Welcome to P3 with Miss Docherty

JANUARY 2021

Happy New Year and welcome back to online learning! Thank you for making me feel so welcome in Room 8 - I can’t wait until we are all able to work together again because I feel so lucky to working with such a fantastic bunch!

It’s been a tricky start to the year so far and I am very hopeful that 2021 will bring us some good news and we can start to get back to normality. A lot of children have already managed to effectively engage with Glow and Microsoft Teams and I have been so impressed with their resilience and ability to handle this new learning curve. I’m sure we will all be professionals in using this technology by the end of lockdown!

This term we will continue to explore World Celebrations and link this to our Health and Wellbeing and Religious and Moral education. We will also think about target setting and progress this year – the class will have lots of opportunities to share their achievements through our new Fantastic Friday activity called Awesome Achievers which I am really looking forward to. We are currently in the process of voting for our new class novel and I can’t wait to hear what the winning book is! Pupils will also be given links to lots of fantastic websites to allow them to read books and stories online. We will be learning lots of new maths skills this term and will have many opportunities to revise previous learning, helping us to fully understand tricky concepts.

Please continue to support your child at home and try not to worry if any technologies aren’t working the way they should – we’re all in this together and I know we will all continue to be superstars throughout this strange time!

NOVEMBER 2020

We have had a busy start to Term 2 and in Literacy we have been learning to use our senses to write poems about Halloween and Bonfire Night.  We have been thinking about things you can see at bonfire night like the fireworks and the food vans and the things you could smell, such as smores and smoke from fireworks!

We are really enjoying challenging ourselves in PE through Cross Country.  Already we can see ourselves getting fitter and faster (and we are trying extra hard so we can earn House Points!)

On Friday 30th October we all loved our Halloween Funday.  Here's some of our favourite bits ...

Seth and Iris- Creating our potions poem

Emily Z, Leah and Emily R- The Halloween Hunt

Emilie T- Getting to dress up!

SEPTEMBER 2020

Primary 3 have enjoyed being back at school- especially getting to see friends again and our new classroom.  We are really enjoying being upstairs!

We have been learning to keep ourselves healthy, happy and positive.  We have learned what SHANARRI means, we have enjoyed doing fitness circuits and to help us develop a Growth Mindset we have learned the important words ... NOT YET!

Our favourite task so far has been learning about our heroes.  We enjoyed drawing them for our wall display and writing about them during literacy.

This week, we have started sharing our learning on Seesaw and it's been so nice to share this with someone at home.

Our class novel is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ... and we all love it because we love chocolate!
