P3 Rm5 Mr wiggins

In Primary 3, every morning we have a ‘soft start’ to help us get settled, catch up with friends and get ready for our day. During this time, Mr Wiggins checks in on us and chats about anything that is bothering us.  Before our lessons start we discuss the daily timetable and any new play areas in our room.

As a class, we have set individual targets for ourselves to work on through the term: A numeracy target, literacy target and a general target. We practice literacy every day through learning our common words, new sounds and applying our skills in writing. We also enjoy actively practicing numeracy and applying this into jotter work.  We focus on learning more about the world through watching Newsround and our topic lessons.  In P.E on a Tuesday we learn new skills for a sport and apply these skills into games in our Thursday P.E lesson.

Our class have a target, on our recognition board, in which every child’s name is to be on by the end of the week before changing our target.  We also earn table points in many ways e.g., sitting nicely, using good manners, being kind and respectful to both Mr Wiggins and our peers. Each week the winning table get to choose a prize for themselves!  We also earn house points by embodying the school values of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, in and out of the classroom.  Every Monday, we swap round our classroom jobs. These give us responsibility and the opportunity to role-play what it is like to have a job outside of school!

It has been wonderful to see our class growing in confidence, kindness and independence this term. We can’t wait to build on our learning and share more exciting experiences as the year goes on!
